Responsibilities and duties of archers

1.  Archers should not be barefooted or wear sandals, nor bare their upper torsos or wear vests. Shorts or skirts should be of a length not higher than their lowered fingertips. Bizarre styling attires are not permitted. Camouflage clothing is best avoided for safety's sake.

2.  For the sake of safety, archers should not attempt to shoot distances beyond their ability.

3.  All archers must obey signals and directions of the Field Captain.

4.  All archers must assist in setting up and disassembling practice ranges and maintaining the store's tidiness.

 

Rules to observe on the shooting line

5.  All archers must be certain that no one is within the practice ranges before they load their bows with arrows. They must wait for the proper signals before firing their arrows.

6.  If during any time of the shooting, an archer is aware that someone is within the shooting range, he must stop immediately and notify the Field Captain and tell the others to stop shooting.

7.  Archers are not allowed to wear headphones/earphones that can cover both ears while they are on the shooting line.

8.  Archers are not allowed to make noises and be a nuisance to other archers.

9.  Archers are not allowed to use mobile phones on the shooting line.

10.  Make sure that no one is at the rear end of the arrow while someone is pulling it out from the target butt.

 

General rules to observe within the practice ranges

11.  Smoking is not allowed within the archery range.

12.  Alcoholic drinks are not permitted during archery practice.

13.  An archer should not take up any archery practice if he is not feeling well, being sick, mentally unfit or suffering from drug treatment side-effects.

14.  The Field Captain may stop any archer who is suspected of being drunk, under the influence of drugs or being not sober from attempting any archery activities.

15.  All KAC members must display their valid membership cards in the practice ranges.

 

 
 

16.  Only KAC members are allowed to do equipment tuning tests on the unoccupied corner of the shooting range after they have sought the consent of the Field Captain.

17.  Extra target butts or target faces can only be added upon obtaining the permission of the Field Captain.

18.  Do not point a drawn bow at anybody whether it is loaded or not.

19.  Archers should NOT touch or handle equipment / properties of others unless with the consent of the owner.

20.  Archers should handle the Club's properties and equipment carefully and put them back to their original positions. Permission must be obtained from the Field Captain before equipment can be loaned out. They must be returned on the due date and be responsible for all damage or losses.

21.  Members of affiliated clubs under the Hong Kong Archery Association (HKAA) can practice in the Kowloon Hospital football field archery range. Other venues and equipment are for the KAC members only.

22.  Members of the HKAA affiliated clubs intending to practise in KAC archery range must sign the ‘responsibility relief declaration' form before doing so. KAC officials will inspect their club credentials whenever required. The target fee for a recurve bow archer is HK$20, and HK$30 for a compound bow archer. The maximum bow weight is restricted to under 60 pounds. All guest archers must wear and display the issued practice ID cards at all times. The maximum number of guest archers is 15, and will be admitted on a first come first served basis.

23.  Each KAC member with a valid membership and attaining intermediate level or above is allowed to bring a maximum of 3 guests who do not have any formal affiliated club membership to practice at the Kowloon Hospital range, provided that the guest members have received recognised training and have their own proper equipment. That KAC member has to be responsible for the supervision and ensure the guest members observe the KAC rules.

24.  Only those members that have completed a course jointly held by the Club and the PAC, or can produce a certificate signed by an HKAA coach to prove that they have received proper compound bow training of not less than 10 hours, are eligible to practise compound bow shooting on KAC field.

25.  The Field Captain if in doubt of any extemporaneous incidents which might cause danger or involve problems in archery practice, he will call an urgent on site meeting by inviting a minimum of four Club committee members to discuss and decide upon the issue. The decision made shall be based on safety and the interests of the Club, and must obtain a majority vote of over 70%.

 
 

Important items to note

1.  Members should pay their membership fees in advance. The Club will issue notices around July and August each year to remind renewal of their membership and payment of fee for the coming year. Members are advised to pay the subscription before the expiration of these notices. Failure in doing so will result in voiding their memberships, and these members if wishing to practice in the field thereafter, have to comply with the General rules to observe within the practice ranges as stated above. Former members who want to rejoin the Club have to follow the requirements of the Club and pay the joining fees afresh. Any member wishing to pay the membership fees in arrears due to special circumstances, shall apply in writing.

2.  Members will be subsidized for participation in recognized local open tournaments after two full years of their membership on condition that they do so in representation of the Club and wear the Club uniforms. The maximum amount is HK$350, refundable at the end of each calendar year.

3.  The Club will pay HK$500 as grant to any Club's representative to participate in any International tournament; the upper limit of frequency will be twice annually. For Asian Games or Olympic Games, the amount will be HK$5,000.

4.  Club's representative will receive a cash award of HK$300 for breaking any record of HKAA in a recognized tournament.

5.  Any trainee who has completed satisfactorily in the Club's archery training course and the follow-up course, may apply for Club membership, the admission will be based on his conduct during practice.

Remarks

Any member should pay attention to his behaviour and conduct whenever and wherever he is to uphold the Club's reputation. Any breach of this and upon the receipt of any complaint, strict disciplinary action will be taken against the offender.

Note:

In the above contents;

1.  if there is any discrepancy in meaning between the Chinese contents and the English translation, it will be subjected to the interpretation of the Club's executive committee, which shall be final;

2.  the ‘Club' or ‘KAC' will mean Kowloon Archery Club;

3.  if considered necessary, the rules can be amended at any time without prior notice;

4.  the masculine gender will include the feminine gender;

5.  the singular number will also indicate the plural number or vice versa.
